Omissis is a sound design experience that invites reflection on the theme of governmental and media censorship, examining the vast amount of documents released in relation to the Epstein case. Despite the publication of more than three million files, a significant part of the truth remains hidden behind carefully placed redactions. The website collects fragments extracted from this immense archive which, through a process of sampling and AI-based voice synthesis, have been transformed from written records into audio testimonies, recreated through the voice of Epstein himself. Each omission found within the documents has been associated with a beep, precisely calculated according to the rhythm of speech, so that its duration would plausibly match the length of the censored content. As a synthesis of the entire sonic experience, the generated audio files have been merged into a single composition, conceived to expose the confusion deliberately created by the release of an overwhelming amount of material, much of it carefully and selectively redacted. Within the composition, two main techniques are used to convey this dynamic: the layering of Epstein’s voices, representing the sheer volume of documents made public, and the progressive muffling of these voices, emphasizing the presence of censorship. As the piece evolves, the redactions gradually become the only element that remains truly audible.
